Right around Valentine’s Day falls another V-Day that celebrates women, not in the way of chocolates and roses, but empowerment! This means readings of the Vagina Monologues pop up at theaters and across campuses. What better time than to introduce you to the book entitled I’ll Show You Mine.

I’ll Show You Mine is a beautiful book of photographs with accompanying personal narratives. It’s a hard bound book with monochromatic cover in pink hues. Inside as 120 pages of vulva portraits and small stories. All models included are age nineteen and older and do vary in age to get a spectrum of stories.

I’ve compiled a list of some of my favorite stories within I’ll Show You Mine, but you’ll have to get the book to read the actual narrative.

Ashley & Emily – separate narratives by Transgender women proclaiming new love for their “created” vagina and vulvas that were always a real part of them.

Freyja - through counseling and the world of kink, she recovers from sexual abuse.

Odyne - shares the experience of living with the pain of vulvar vestibulitis and sexual assault in her past.

There are multiple variations of vibrators and toys designed for individuals who have a vagina. But relatively less toys specifically designed for individuals who have a penis. Every once in awhile I like to review something specifically made for the penis, and luckily I have a great participant to help me. The Tenga 3D is one of the newer masturbation sleeves on the market and an improvement from the Tenga Eggs that I’ve reviewed before.

The Tenga 3D is part work of art, part masturbation sleeve. I received the Spiral version, which reminds of something rather Escher-esque with it’s rotating stair-like plates that create an interesting spiraling pattern. To use the 3D you reverse it, placing those little stairs inside the sleeve and revealing a smooth outer surface. Then reversing it again to clean and dry.

The Tenga 3D is made of TPE/Elastomer material which means comfortable consistency but slightly porous and cannot be disinfected. So sharing the Tenga 3D with a partner should include a condom if not fluid-bonded. Those who enjoy Tenga Eggs but hate the “single use” of these sleeves may want to invest in the Tenga 3D line which also includes the Polygon. The Tenga 3D sleeves are reusuable and easy to clean.

So how does the 3D actually feel? My wife was my willing participant to try out the Spiral and relay her experiences back to me. The spiral stairs create an interesting friction which unlike some handheld sleeves (like the Fleshlight), this sensation can be intensified with the hold of your hand around the sleeve. She enjoyed the easy clean-up and found the Tenga 3D to be less squishy and “creepy” as the Tenga Eggs.

My wife found few downsides to the Tenga 3D Spiral. For those who enjoy longer sessions she did find the Spiral to create too much friction, even with ample lube. Individuals who are uncircumcised may not find this to be an issue with longer use. The drying of the 3D can be a slight issue as to keep lint off the sleeve (or cats), the case needs to be closed. This seals off any circulating air and makes drying time longer. These are the only issues that my wife (who can be picky with toys) found in this masturbation sleeve.

What I love about the Tenga 3D Spiral is that it is a toy for the penis that does not pretend to be anything but an interesting pattern. No fake vulvas, breasts or anything resembling the female anatomy. To me it’s like the ultimate masturbation sleeve for us nerdy kids who like interesting patterns and shapes with a clean look. For those not knowledgeable of masturbation sleeves or the Tenga brand, I wouldn’t expect them to even look at the 3D Spiral and know what it’s purpose is.

The “Gift You Wish You Got” - Sexy Reading

It takes a lot to make an erotica anthology stand out. There are tons available on almost any topic. Take Me There manages to separate itself by being an awesome trans and genderqueer anthology. Back in November I was lucky enough to view a reading by it’s editor, Tristan Taormino at the Transcending Boundaries Conference.

Tristan read Cocksure by Gina de Vries about a seductress preying on her brother’s shy friend. Also during this reading I got to hear Kate Bornstein read her tale, Dixie Bell, about Huck Finn’s further adventures becoming a Southern belle. Rereading the story I can still hear the accent Kate used.

Transgender and genderqueer characters tend to be avoided or used as a fetish/object in traditional erotica. The stories in Take Me There are so imaginative and creative compared to those stories I’ve read before. While attending trans panels I often hear that terminology can be difficult when referring to anatomy in sexual situations. Reading these stories you get great examples of the use of language done correctly.

I have several favorite stories in Take Me There, but my top story is Sea of Cortez involving Navy men with hidden secrets involving lingerie, by Sandra McDonald. I also love the way Alicia Goranson uses imagery in Somebody’s Watching Me. You Don’t Know Jack by Michael Hernandaz is full of masculine energy. I was even surprised to enjoy a story about bukkake by Penelope Mansfield.

Take Me There has stories for everyone whether you like boys who like boys, girls who like girls, boys who like girls, and every lovely configuration under the sun. I enjoyed the positive safer sex messages and creative stories by great writers.

Corsette Vibrating Harness

I have been toying with different harnesses and internally-held pegging tools for a moment now, and one of these is the Vibrating Corsette Harness that Good Vibrations was nice enough to offer me. It’s your traditional multi-strap harness in design but this harness includes a corset lacing back and swirling velvet fabric with a removable bullet vibe in the front.

I usually like to post my own pictures of toys I receive, but I decided to use the image that Good Vibrations uses for a reason. I feel utterly awkward wearing this harness. I had all good intentions of putting on my cute cheese-pizza boyshort undies and snapping some pictures of this harness over top. When I had the harness all strapped into place, I just couldn’t.

The Vibrating Corsette Harness has some good attributes to it. It’s vegan-friendly with machine washable fabric and adjusts to fit 60″ hips. The O rings are easy to snap in and out and there are 3 different sizes. The little pocket for the bullet could also fit something a little more powerful.

However I can sum up my feelings about this harness in one word, uncomfortable. I know that the canvas material the straps are made from tend to be fairly common with the “jock-strap” style of harness. But I hate them. They rub my skin uncomfortably. The velvet material looks cute at first, with it’s swirling pattern, but it gathers every single cat hair in the room like a vacuum. I know I have a lot of cats, but I don’t feel like using the lint brush on my harness.

The corset style lacing is a good idea, but I feel like it fails in the final product. For the corset effect I feel like there should be more of a substantial back, especially since my harness hit almost mid-rear. Another uncomfortable aspect.

Some of the problems I’ve encountered with this harness may be related to my size. I am a size 18/20 in most pants and skirts, so having more hips and belly might be why I could not seem to get this harness to fit well. I definitely did not feel like I was confident actually using this harness with my partner. And I will admit that after trying this harness on several times and adjusting it, I did not actually use it.

For the price of the Vibrating Corsette Harness($69) I feel like I should be getting more. Instead I feel like I have a less expensive harness that I could have picked up at an adult novelty store. Don’t fret though, Good Vibrations has some more substantial harnesses that you might like to give a go, like the Terra Firma Harness (non-vegan though at $68)

Secrets of Great G-Spot Orgasms

I have to make a confession, despite being a sex educator and toy blogger, I’ve never really felt confident that I had found my G-spot. Believe me, I have tried. When I was contacted about reviewing Tristan Taormino’s new book Secrets of Great G-Spot Orgasm and Female Ejaculation, I got excited.

What Tristan does well is creating books with substance and sparkle. Secrets of Great G-Spot Orgasms includes instruction, beautifully photographed pictures of gorgeous people and erotica by Alison Tyler, Rachel Kramer Bussel, and Valerie Alexander.

The G-spot has gotten mixed press in last few years. It is like a ghost, some think it is real, while others believe it a work of fiction. Tristan addresses this debate before moving into the tutorial sections of this guide. And like any good book about the female reproductive system, there are anatomical drawings.

Secrets of Great G-Spot Orgasms contains guides to help you, or your partner locate and manipulate the G-spot in a variety of ways. Tristan covers positions, angles, and toys to better access a different style of orgasm. I was thrilled at Tristan’s explanation of G-spot orgasms, as “different”. Some media portray the G-spot orgasm as the holy grail of orgasms and if you haven’t experienced one, you’ve missed out on an epiphany. Tristan doesn’t place as much hype on the necessity of a G-spot orgasm to having a fulfilling sex life. Tristan just offers a very good examination of how to explore a different style of orgasm and how you can try to experience one yourself.

Also included is the topic of female ejaculation, which I’m always happy to see addressed publicly. While teaching a sex education group focused to teenage women, I had one young woman who slipped me a note in between groups. Essentially she was asking about female ejaculation but did not know what it was. Instead she had experienced boyfriends being confused and ridiculing her after sex. I was happy to be able to assure her that she was indeed “normal” and she could feel confident about communicating this part of her sexuality.

My only real complaint with Secrets of Great G-Spot Orgasms is that I wish there was more variety in the stars/models used for the photographs. While beautiful, I would like to see more gender-fluid individuals and different ranges of body types. Tristan does address gender language within the opening sections. I’m a sucker for inclusive books and make a point to check for language, but visual representation is also great.

So, I bet you’re wondering if I discovered the elusive G-spot after reading Secrets of Great G-Spot Orgasms and Female Ejaculation? After employing several of the tips and the help of my Njoy Fun Wand, I did find my G-spot. Now I just have to work to obtaining an orgasm that way. One step at a time!
